Those that I work with describe me as receptive, kind, extremely engaged and at times even challenging. I am not a passive listener; my therapy work takes the form of an active, two-way dialogue. While my style is compassionate, informal, and truly nonjudgmental, I believe it is often essential for our default positions to be explored within a safe context. Good therapy provides the help of someone trained to see and artfully communicate what we sometimes cannot see ourselves. The therapeutic relationship must be compassionate, open-hearted, and enjoyable, yet honest, even when such honesty is challenging.
Sometimes therapy is not useful. But when a client is committed to the process and the therapist fit is right we develop a deeper understanding of the nature of our problems and we can achieve increased intellectual and emotional flexibility, healthier relationships, and richer, more satisfying lives. I’ve seen it repeatedly.
I work with individuals and couples of all backgrounds and look forward to seeing if we are the right fit.
